Woman's World: Page 2
Woman's World takes a practical approach to fashion, as in this article on how to make a white shirt work in a variety of outfits.
Each issue consists of at least a half-dozen cover stories, which typically concentrate on dieting success stories and healthcare trends and advice, plus regular sections organized into six main categories:
Be Informed!: subsections include "Start Your Week in the Know," which offers brief news items and trivia, and "Your Perfectly Organized Life," which gives advice on keeping your mind, body, and house in tip-top shape.
Look & Feel Your Best!: contains the "Natural Health" section, which examines preventive, self-care issues.
Meet Inspiring People!: presents stories about everyday people who have overcome obstacles; the "Real-Life Scrapbook" column chronicles real-life miracles.
Express Your Creativity & Love: offers household hints and cooking tips; the "Step-By-Step Recipe" feature shows how to make a dish, with accompanying photos at every step.
Relax & Have Fun!: offers interactive activities, such as a "Puzzle of the "Week," and "Brain Games"; "WW Getaway" looks at fun places to visit; and the "Love & Laughter" section features amusing snapshots of readers' pets and kids.
Feel Inspired!: explores spiritual issues, and includes a column by the coauthors of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
A healthy portion of each issue of Woman's World comes from readers, who submit their stories about dealing with everyday situations. These reports come from all over, and from people in all walks of life. The heavy emphasis on readership participation is unique among the popular women's magazines published in this country Readers are encouraged to contribute articles to a number of the magazine's regular features, such as the "Romantic Fiction" and "Solve-It-Yourself Mystery" sections. Readers are eager to share: the magazine receives 2,500 romance and mystery submissions every month.
One of the most popular and unusual elements of the magazine is the "Real-Life Scrapbook" section, which offers feel-good stories about ordinary lives that have taken extraordinary turns. A frequent theme of this section is medical miracles. A recent story came from a pregnant woman with a serious heart condition, who feared for her life as well as her unborn child's. But in the end, both mother and child survived and thrived.
Other stories recount amazing rescue operations, impossible dreams that came true, and other daunting challenges surmounted. These are stories of individuals, but their experiences strike a universal chord.
