The art magazine that most people read, 9/21/2006 5:45:16 PM
ARTnews is the oldest and largest art magazine in the world. It started in 1902 as a small, one page weekly. Now it is a beautifully printed, full-color magazine. It covers all aspects of the art world with clear language that avoids the absurd pseudo-eloquence of most contemporary writing about art. The only drawback to this is that the magazine therefore does not delve too deeply into theoretical issues.
If you are looking for an excellent guide to the art world, from conservation issues to museum politics, contemporary art reviews to art historical analysis, then this is definitely the magazine for you.
Remember, this is the ONLY art magazine to have won major journalistic awards.    Permalink

Does Art Excite You?, 9/6/2006 5:48:30 PM
I met some Art majors awhile back in university and one of them was telling me about how she never regretted subscribing to Artnews. She says it covers anything and everything. I saw the latest issue in the library and it was dedicated to eroticism in art, and its special place in modern art. I understand next months issue will be on American Art so I think Ill tell my cousin to watch out for it. The article on Ingres was well-researched, I thought.    Permalink
